摘要

The traditional procedure of benchmarking computer solutions in the fields of computational mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and turbulence modeling is to compare the numerical solutions with experimental data. In this paper a alternate procedure for such benchmarking is presented. It consists of using assumed solutions of the governing equations to calculate the required source terms/body forces and use the resulting source terms/body forces as inputs to back calculate the displacements, velocities, temperature, etc. The procedure works well both for linear and nonlinear problems. Examples are provided from linear elasticity, Navier-Stokes equations, nonlinear heat conduction, convective heat transfer, and k-e turbulence modeling.
