EISTRAM-Experimental investigation of the PIE-techniqe

The main purpose of the research project Experimental Investigation of Software Testing and Reliability Assessment Methods (EISTRAM), was to experimentally investigate some software testing methods pinpointed from a literature survey of the past 20+ years of resarch in the field of software reliability assessment methods. Particular emphasis was put on a method suggested by J. Voas called the PIE-technique. This paper describes results and experiences from applying the PIE-technique to four test cases, a traingle classification program, a program for solving seocnd-degree equations, a program for performing a Power range Monitoring of a nuclear reactor (PRM), and a program which was developed in the Project on Diverse Software (PODS).
