An integral safety plan for the high speed train link in the netherlands

The construction of the High Speed Train Link in The Netherlands results in the introduction of a new transport system. Because of the high speed and the presence of major relative long tunnels, much public attention is drawn to the safety of the link. Due to the traditionally strong safety awareness of the Dutch Railway Company and experience abroad, there is a general confidence in the level of safety. however, investiments are often made without explicit economic optimisation and testing the acceptability of the safety risks.
