Advantages of rare earth chemical heat treatment

摘要

This paper summarizes the new achievements of application of rare earth (RE) elements to thermochemical treatments such as carburizing,nitriding,boriding,diffusion metallizing,ion nitriding,and multiple thermochemical treatments.The catalytic effect of rare earth elements and the microstructure and mechanical properties of RE-thermochemically treated steels are given.The application and future development of such treatments are discussed.
