The stencil printing of adhesives has been a topic of extensive debate over the last 12 - 18 months. Loctite recognised this trend towards the use of mass deposition techniques and developed a printing technology based on a polymer stencil (the patented Varidot~(TM) system). This technology has been significantly developed since its' launch last year. Now when the polymer stencil is combined with a newly formulated Surface Mount Adhesive very high speed printing of consistent multi-height adhesive dots is possible. In fact, the stencil-adhesive combination allows adhesive dots to be printed for a wide range of components (up to SOIC's) at print speeds in excess of 100 mmsec~(-1).
