Percutaneous absorption and skin permeation of flurbiprofen enantiomers

Transdermal drug delivery systems are, now, incorporated with racemates in pharmaceutical field and clinically used. Recently, chirality of drugs are recognized to be important to increase pharmacological effects and to decrease side effects. However, the relationship between chirality and skin permeation has not been clarified yet. In order to determine the contribution of chirality on percutaneous absorption and skin permeation of drugs, flurbiprofen (FP) enantiomers were selected as a model drug.
