In this paper, we first introduce the concept of Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert spectrum discussed by Norden E. Huang [1]. This method is used for non-stationary nonlinear signal analysis. Using this method we can have better joint time frequency resolution than other method like STFT, Wavelet, Wigner-ville distribution. Then we introduce our new signal decomposition method called Adaptive Time Variant Filter Decomposition. It is an improvement to EMD method. With this new method we find new ways to solve machine fault diagnosis problem.
