The resilient mounting system of machinery is an effective measure to attenuate unwanted vibration and structureborne sound transmission, which is widely accepted and adopted in many engineering installations. As to elastic installation, it is necessary to predict the vibration responses at any important points of the system, as well as the vibration severity of resilient mounted machinery within the specified evaluating standards. The purpose of this paper is to provide an approach to calculate the overall response of floating raft isolation system containing any number of masses and isolators under the excitations caused by machinery. In this paper, an analytical model of the floating raft isolation system is established. The affection of damping on the system response is studied. Taking a practical floating raft isolation system as an example, the displacement and velocity response and the transmitted force to the base is computed. The calculation is carried out using the Mode Summation Method and Finite Difference Numerical Computation Method respectively. The agreement of the results proves the correctness of the model and the calculating process.
