Polarization dynamics and intensity noise in VCSELs

Abstract: We experimentally investigate the radio frequency noise spectrum of electrically pumped VCSELs during polarization switching. It is found that the relaxation oscillation and beating frequency of polarization modes may lock before the switching if the frequencies are comparable. We compare our experimental results with the existing models. !11
