Some Strategies for Watershed Management in Thailand

Hydrologically, the total area of Thailand (513, 115 sq km) can be divided into 25 major watersheds or 255 small watersheds. Studies in some experimental watersheds have shown that when conservation measures were applied, most physical indicators-both qualitative and quantitative-showed the positive response only after a few years. It is, however, not easy to apply these research results to the degraded areas because of several barriers existing there.
