Improving Erosion Control Through Training Partnerships

Pennsylvania implements its comprehensive Erosion and Sediment Pollution Control Program jointly with each of its 66 local county conservation districts. Over 160 county personnel are employed in the program as plan reviewers, inspectors and administrators. Delegation agreements between the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and each district require six training sessions and program news releases each year. Workshops for contractors, plan preparers, and municipal officials average 100 sessions/year with over 2,300 in attendance. Erosion control companies often assist local conservation districts with these sessions.
