摘要

The effect on leading-edge vortex breakdown of geometric modifications on slender flat delta wings is investigated by means of water-tunnel flow visualization experiments. ^Of particular interest are the effects of leading and trailing edge bevels as well as those of a centerbody. ^Effectiveness of the leading edge bevel in delaying breakdown appears to be related to the ratio between leading edge width and pre-separation boundary layer thickness. ^The trailing edge bevel mainly delays breakdown in the aft part of the wing, and a centerbody has a small delaying effect everywhere. ^Experiments conducted to determine the stability of the burst point revealed that under some conditions more than one stable breakdown location exists. ^(Author)
