Through comparison with the squirrel-cage motor used for the drum shearer with longitudinal direction arrangement, the peculiarity of the squirrel-cage motor in main position used for the drum shearer with corss direction arrangement, which has a good prospect both in economic profits and popularization, has well been discussed. with aid of computer analysis in network data of the shearer motor and the establishment of the model of heat transfer process, some special methods and limits abuout important parameters, which have been proved by experiment, of the squirrel-cage motor used for the drum shearer with cross direction arrangement have been put out.
