Use of robe river pisolitic lump ore in small, medium and large size blast furnaces

As the demand for lump iron ore increases, new soruces of lump ores are being examined to augment existing supplies. In the case of small to medium size blast furnacesin China, use of Robe lump ore is gaining recognition, even though it is a goethitic iron ore with a high loss on ignitio. Although the strength of this ore type is lower than traditional lump ores, the paper shows that such an ore can ocmplement the use of both hematite lump ore and pellets. Data on the use of Robe lump ore in small and large blast furnaces is presented.
