Over 30 000 children and adolescents from four rayons of Bryansk oblast and from three rayons of Kaluga oblast have been examined. The cohort is being followed up dynamically. In four rayons of Bryansk oblast, 24.5% of all children are residing in the territory with contamination density over 555 GBq/km~2. At the same time, the examined children of Kaluga oblast reside in rayons with ~(137)Cs contamination density less than 481 GBq/km~2. Mean absorbed doses to the thyroid of children under 7 years old living in different settlements with ~(137)Cs contamination over 555 GBq/km~2 range from 70 to 220 cGy [1].
