Abstract: Void formations in liquid crystal displays are not a new phenomenon, however, the documentation of such failures has not been extensive or readily available. The context of this paper is to cover the background of void formations within liquid crystal displays and concentrate on the 'unknown' void formation discovered in dichroic LCDs. Even though the origin of the void is not known, there are two catalyst necessary to create this type of void. The application of the information should be incorporated into the development of other flat-panel technologies to be used in military and commercial aviation.!24
