A non-linear model is developed that accurately simulates the dynamic characteristics of an electrorheological fluid. Two linear models, a viscous model and a viscoelastic damping model are combiend using non-linear shape functions of strain rate. The 3-parameter fluid model is used to represent the viscoelastic behaviour. The model parameters are estimated for different values of electric fields using the least square technique. The model developed here correlates well with data presented in the literature.
