The CCITT Recommendations can be considered the starting point for the development of audiovisual services on the ISDN. A spread diffusion of them will depend on a number of factors as standard complying, costs, reliability and quality of the new products.In this paper the problems related to the definition and the evaluation of service quality are discussed, stressing the aspects related to video quality assessment on multimedia terminals.
