The authors discuss a sampling of their experiences in conducting several dozen warranty analyses for US Army, Navy, and Air Force program offices. A description is given of how the tools present within the military decision-support system (DSS) have been used by the authors' company by select teams of experts to converge on optimal warranty approaches, project their costs and benefits, and tailor program-specific warranty clauses. Topics covered include: stand problem-solving techniques applied to warranty analysis, the company's warranty decision-support process, and several examples of their use in several military systems projects.
