Product Design and Development Based on Bamboo Culture

摘要

Through studying Chinese bamboo culture and analyzing successful applications of ancient and modern bamboo culture in product design, this research project aims to explore the entry point of bamboo in modern Chinese product design. The design of product is supported by the connotation of culture. Culture is life and the center of culture is a human. Modern design emphasizes on “people-oriented” and “design a way of life”, which actually points out that the theme of design is culture. It is hoped that modern Chinese design can have new energy and China’s industrial design can exhibit its own design features by applying bamboo culture which has a strong Chinese connotation and shows the spirit of the Chinese. By adopting simple design, it aims to create modern products by the application of bamboo elements which are widely accepted by consumers so as to make contributions to the exploration of green design which has ethnic and cultural characteristics.
