摘要

The failure to consider a family of products when designing products and processes is one of the ma- jor difficulties associated with implementing the current quality engineering technology base to real-world industrial problems. Identifying the most influential scaling factor during the early stage of product design is a critical element of the product-family concept, but this important issue has never been satisfactorily addressed in the research com- munity nor properly applied in industry. This article proposes a scaling factor identifiction method and shows how design and analysis of experiments can be efficiently incorporated in product-family-based product and process design. A numerical example is also discussed.
