In view of the problem of the ground load imbalance in severe cold area, this paper puts forward a ground source heat pump system with air seasonal thermal storage (GSHPASTS), and presents the experimental study of air seasonal heat storage in Harbin. The nature air heat was injected into the soil in summer and extracted by the heat pump in winter. The results show that the average performance coefficient of the heat storage was 12.44, and the heat storage rate of unit buried depth was 14.20W/m. After the soil recovery for 69 days, the average temperature of the soil around the ground heat exchanger (GHE) was about 1°C higher than that of the soil in the observational well. Therefore, it can be concluded that the idea of air seasonal heat storage is feasible, and the intermittent operation is helpful to improve the heat storage performance.
