This study takes one solar greenhouse of a vegetable planting base in Beijing district as the research object, and a new composite Phase Change Material (PCM) developed by our group was applied on the inner surface of the solar greenhouse’s north wall. The purpose is to enhance the wall’s ability to collect and store solar energy and then improve the indoor thermal environment of the greenhouse, and increase the utilization rate of solar energy. According to the measured data from Dec. 2010 to Jan. 2011, we can get that the inner surface temperature of the north wall with PCMs is higher 2~5°C than that of without PCMs at night. Using PCMs storage energy in sunny day, the heat release of the composite PCMs is 3.4 to 3.7 times as large as that of the ordinary brick wall with the same volumes. But, the heat release per unit mass of the composite PCMs is 7.4 to 9.9 times as large as that of the ordinary brick wall at night And the shading of the vegetables can affect obviously the ability that the PCMs absorb the solar radiation energy, so the influence of the shading should be fully considered in the planting and the arrangement of the PCMs.
