More than 18 shopping malls are investigated on-site in Shanghai, to get to know the common features of this type of building, such as building geometry shape, function, number of floors, atrium space and HVAC system types. Four shopping mall prototype models are developed using EnergyPlus based on the information obtained from investigation, literature and standard. These prototype models can be used to simulate and analyze the baseline energy use of shopping malls, as well as to evaluate energy saving potential of various ECMs (energy conservation measures).
