摘要

The 4C/ID is an instructional design model for complex learning. Despite the 4C/ID model being particularly relevant for information systems teaching, we believe the model is not really known in this community. In this tutorial we review 4C/lD's main building blocks and illustrate their application for requirements engineering and conceptual modelling. Using a rich method such as 4C/1D could be overwhelming as the conscious use of instructional design methods forces one to more carefully reflect on learning goals and students' mental processes. However, in return the increased understanding of students' cognitive processes allows reaping the benefit of instructional design methods. The goal of the"tutorial is to offer guidance in where to start, and how to gradually expand the application of this interesting model to one's teaching.
