The rotating speed fluctuation of the flexible solar array in the process of tracking the sun will affect the accuracy of the solar array pointing to the sun and the safety of the spacecraft in orbit. In this paper, the flexible solar array and its drive mechanism are modeled as a whole. According to the characteristics of the dynamic model, this paper proposes a sliding mode control method (SMC) to control the rotating speed of the sun-tracking system with flexible solar arrays. The simulation results show that the SMC method can effectively reduce the rotating speed fluctuation of the system.
