A Technology for Building a Seamless Mosaic Coverage of the Antarctica Coasts with Various-Time Images from Sentinel-1

The necessity and relevance of the practical use of the Antarctica coast mosaics is described. The key points related to the technology of preparation of the Sentinel-1 scenes for building the mosaic are presented. Sentinel-1 scene search services are listed, along with existing products that provide Antarctic mosaics. The geometrical boundaries of the selected Sentinel-1 radar scenes for the created multi-time Antarctic coast mosaics are presented. The sequence of steps for preprocessing Sentinel-1 radar products is described. The Antarctica coastal part mosaic is being built on their basis. The main provisions of the method for constructing a seamless mosaic image are outlined. The stitching method of the scenes into a mosaic is based on the geometric analysis process of location of pixels overlapping in the scenes. The main results of method implementation are shown in a fragment of the Antarctica coverage mosaic. Experiments show that the technology can achieve automatic panoramic mosaic of the survey area.
