Photo and video equipment are considered as accessible and informative means of remote sensing and monitoring of the status of remote objects. Such tasks are solved in agriculture, geodesy and cartography, environmental monitoring, etc. The rational use of photo and video equipment is based on the prediction of the recognition properties of the constructing image. One of the most influential operational factors, what limiting the recognition properties of an image in the photo-video recording, is its image shift. The reasons for the image shift are analyzed. Image shift sources are classified according to their origin. The effect of the shift on image quality and its recognition properties is evaluated by spatial-frequency analysis. The proposed and well-grounded image shift algorithm estimation of image shift makes it possible to develop comprehensive recommendations for improving image quality and reducing the impact of such a shift on the photo-video recording results.
