This work presents a simple transmission line model, mainly targeted at microstrip lines in integrated silicon-based circuits up to approximately 100GHz. The model is based on the well-known RLGC modeling of transmission lines adding only one additional parameter to model the skin effect. An advantage of this approach is that the model is simple enough that it can be created by the circuit designer in a short amount of time when no better model is available in the design kit. Nevertheless, sufficient accuracy to provide a sensible estimate for the performance of matching networks can be attained.
