On the Constraint Normalization: An Empirical Study

摘要

The form of constraint violation plays an important role when using the constraint handling techniques for solving Constrained Optimization Problems. As the measures for different constraint violation may have different numerical ranges, some normalization forms have already been proposed to balance the contribution of each constraint. This paper first systematically analyzes the effect of normalization, and then tries to study it from the aspect of problem characteristics. The experimental results verify the relationship between the two forms of constraint violation and problem characteristics, which can give some guide for future research.
