Three-screw pumps are widely used in the field of ship, engineering machinery and elevator lift. Vibration reduction of three-screw pumps is of great importance in improving the riding comfort and safety. Two main vibration sources in three-screw pumps, which are fluid forces and oil film pressures, are studied to provide the basis for vibration control. A fluid exciting force model is established based on vector integration to calculate the fluid forces. A mathematical hydrodynamic lubrication model of screw-housing is proposed to compute the oil film pressure. Additionally, the influence of screw rotor design parameters on oil film pressure is also investigated. The three-screw pumps will be optimized based on the criteria of low vibration.
