Adjusted Test Code for Office Equipment with Printing Functions for the Blue Angel Environment-Related Label

Created in 1978, the Blue Angel is the first and oldest environment-related label for products and services in the world. The Blue Angel environment-related label for printing devices considers itself as a market-conform instrument to encourage buying environmental-friendly printers. The author is responsible for noise criteria development of the Blue Angel. Because of the purpose of the Blue Angel to show the consumer an environmental-friendly product, it is not reasonable to do this with noise measurement values which base upon operation modes far from the usual application of a printing device. The actual test pages are documents which do not represent any practical use of a printing device. So this paper suggests on using the practical test pages according to ISO 24734 and ISO 24735 for noise measurements. The approach is to show an outline of a new test code and to encourage a cooperation of both the manufacturers and UBA for the progress of the noise criteria in Blue Angel for printing devices.
