Over the years, IMI systems had developed a line of Guided Mortar Munitions. Starting from a proof of concept of hardened computers, the development of precise guided mortar munitions began. During the work on the final product, the adaptation to strict performances, safety requirements, growing needs in computing power, customers' expectations, and of course, cost objective, lead to significant revisions in the existing approaches which in turn to the need for re-design of major subsystems. The main challenges and their solutions will be presented. Tests results demonstrating the success of the chosen solutions will be shown.
