摘要

Wearable biomedical electronics are a road opener for ubiquitous healthcare. In this context, correlation of biomedical data acquired from different wearable sensors enable remote health monitoring, and eventually diagnosis and treatment. Activity tracking is an important part of remote health monitoring. For this purpose, this paper proposes a novel architecture for an activity tracker, which correlates accelerometer data with lower-limb electromyogram, in order to implement precision movement detection. The purpose of correlating accelerometer data with lower-limb electromyogram was to discriminate user movement, i.e., walking and running, from other type of activities, e.g. jumping, hand balance, etc., which lead to false increments of the step count. Tests carried out with a laboratory proof of concept of the proposed activity monitor validate the proposed architecture.
