This paper briefly summarizes a doctoral dissertation study and outlines both the content and the approach taken in the development of the conclusions section of chapter six. The study surveyed both engineers and engineering managers about their knowledge sharing behaviors and organizational commitment. The results of the study, while statistically significant and sufficient to satisfy the requirements of a doctor of philosophy degree program, demonstrated only weak to moderate relationships between the response variables. Chapter six of the study was created by suggesting a reason for the relatively weak study results and then supporting that suggestion with multiple studies from the literature. The construct of uncertainty avoidance within the organizational culture of engineering was introduced in chapter six and is discussed as a potential reason for the study's results.
