In this paper, the temperature variation of the spindle and usefulness of shaft-bore cooling at a rotational speed of 100,000 min~(-1) are discussed by the lumped-parameter model and the finite-element model for aiming at developing high speed aerostatic spindle with better thermal stability. The results by each model show shaft-bore cooling have an extremely high cooling performance, and controlling cooling condition can suppress temperature rise of the rotor that directly affects the machining accuracy.
