A new high precision Dm will soon be manufactured. A specific PPD has been developed to work inside. Based on a redundant parallel kinematic principle (Rd-PK), the design concept was based on precision XY stages as actuators. It is expected to deliver high precision motion in positioning the sample along (and, around) any investigative axis and related planes being a powerful device in a compact package, as an alternative to the actual existent (serial or parallel) devices. Through small modifications, it can be used in other applications, e.g. extreme conditions (vacuum, etc.). Future work will include the working tests and adaptation to extreme conditions.
