In this paper, we study the effect of piezoelectric scatterer orientation on the band gaps of Lamb waves propagating in one-dimensional phononic crystal plate composed of a rectangular piezoelectric scatterer periodically embedded in an elastic layer. The band gap structure of piezoelectric phononic crystals with consideration of electrically open and shorted cases are calculated by using the finite element method (FEM). The results show that the band gaps are sensitive to the orientation, filling rate and the ratio of the piezoelectric scatterer. The above results can provide reference for the application of the vibration isolation.
