The Ironless long stator permanent magnet linear synchronous machine (PMLSM) with Halbach Array is used in the medium and low speed maglev system. It is of great significance to increase the thrust density of Halbach Array which is loaded in the train by increasing the amplitude of the fundamental wave of magnetic flux density and suppressing harmonics. In this paper, an 8-module Halbach array with unequal thickness is proposed to improve the magnetic density of Halbach Array and reduce harmonic content. Then, the multi-objective optimization of the motor is carried out by genetic algorithm (GA). The results of the multi-objective optimization show that the thrust density can be increased by about 1.3% and thrust fluctuation decreased by 28.5%.
