Institutional research (IR) is an essential activity in all universities. Even in the field of health professions, IR activity of each faculty department for program evaluation has been required in terms of accreditation. Authors have held IR workshops and panel discussions on health professions with collaborators since 2016. This article reports background, issues, initiatives, and future perspectives of IR in the field of Japanese health professions.
