Mild steel is mostly used in marine environment where it corrodes very rapidly. This study reveals that aloe vera gel as natural corrosion inhibitor could decrease the corrosion rate of mild steel in seawater. Three different concentrations of aloe vera gel that mixed with 10 litre of seawater taken from the South China Sea and were prepared to produce four different solutions. First is controlled seawater, second is 300ppm concentration of aloe vera gel, third is 600ppm concentration of aloe vera gel and fourth is 900ppm concentration of aloe vera gel. Two methods is used to analyze the corrosion process of steel coupon samples: Weight Loss and Electrochemical Impendence Spectroscopy (EIS) method. The results reveal that high aloe vera concentration enhances the corrosion inhibition efficiency of mild steel in seawater.
