Fine Slaving of Outer Gimbal During Fast Steering of Dual Gimbaled Sight

In dual gimbaled sight, Electro-optical sensors are in inner gimbals of the sight and outer gimbals have corresponding optical windows. Sizes of these windows are limited due to many reasons of cost, weight and feasibility. Also, there is small physical freedom between gimbals (inner and outer). When fast steering command is given to the inner gimbal, outer gimbal lags during transient response with appreciable amount. Also, there are overshoots and undershoots. A command modifier was proposed [1] for addressing these issues. In this paper, an improved scheme has been proposed to achieve fine slaving of outer gimbal and avoidance of overshoots & undershoots during fast steering. Here, acceleration limit of command modifier has been dynamically changed according to slaving error.
