The power industry is closely related to the national economic life. The residents’ life and production are increasingly inseparable from electricity, which makes the power industry produce a lot of data in daily life. With the continuous improvement of informational construction of power enterprises, power data has entered the era of big data. This paper firstly introduces the characteristics of power data in the era of big data, and outlines the typical data acquisition and transmission schemes of power system. Then, a model of vacancy rate and idle rate of residential house based on power data is proposed by using the relationship between residential electricity consumption and housing use status. Finally, the residential electricity consumption data in Chongqing are selected for calculation, and the practical value of the model is verified.
