摘要

This paper presents a non-destructive method that uses robots with suitable sensing technologies to detect faults on blades of wind turbines. In this paper, common types of defects on blades are introduced for better understanding of the detecting method; the path planning method of wheeled mobile robots is studied for implementing effective inspection on blades commonly used non-destructive testing methods are described to find out how the methods can be combined with robots for faults detection on blades. Finally, from the material point of view, the infrared thermal imaging technology is chosen for the static detection and the acoustic emission signal detection technology is considered for the dynamic detection of wind turbine blades.
