Municipal plastic waste (MPW) has been one of the toughest challenges before civic bodies in India. This paper presents improvised hydraulic plastic waste compacting system. The new system is tested for its effectiveness. Improper management of municipal plastic waste (MPW) causes hazards to people. Varied studies reveal that 80 to 90 % of MPW is disposed of unscientifically in open dumps and landfills making nuisance to public health. The improvised system yields 85 to 90 % compaction of low density plastic waste. Well established 3R principle is used. The system reduces 85% cost of transportation and it can be easily handled for recycling and reuse. Further, it will occupy only 10 % of land in dumping yard. In accordance with the rules of generation, assortment, transportation, disposal and waste treatment, automation of MPW are experienced in Asian nations.
