On rails (2) at the top of the press frame is a sliding carriage (3) that carries the hydraulic ram (4,5) for compacting the waste. The compacting chamber (6) is cuboid and has suspended in it a cuboid, open-topped sack with its square bottom surface resting on a base (9). The sack opening allows the ram platen to descend into the sack to compact the waste. When the sack is filled with compacted waste a lockable door (11) at the end of the chamber is opened and the sack is ejected by a horizontally moving slider (10) forming the other side of the compacting chamber. ADVANTAGE - Waste is baled directly into sack and requires no further wrapping operation.
