Photovoltaic (PV) system's output performance depends on solar irradiation and temperature. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is the most effective solution to extract the maximum power from the PV system. The incremental conductance algorithm can track the maximum power operating point excellently under any environmental condition but has reduced efficiency due to oscillations. This paper introduces a modified approach to implement incremental conductance technique to overcome the limitations. In this work, an integral regulator is used to minimize the error signal generated by comparing instantaneous conductance to the incremental conductance. The proposed photovoltaic MPPT controller system is developed in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The simulation results have verified the efficiency of the control method in the presence of changes in the irradiance level.
