The attachment line motion is coupled to the wing circulation, so its measurement enables the estimation sectional aerodynamic loads and moments for attached flows and provides an upper bound for the same for separated flows. Attachment line motion has been previously measured using hot-film sensors embedded around the wing leading edge. The wing leading-edge is susceptible to foreign object damage (FOD), so an alternate method to estimate the attachment line motion would be beneficial for flight testing, monitoring and control applications. This paper describes one method to estimate the attachment line motion using flow sensors, requiring minimal calibration, embedded downstream of the leading edge.
