摘要

Our studies have shown that we can fabricate hydrogels that successfully mimic stiffness properties of mammary adipose and breast cancer tissues, while supporting breast cancer cell viability. Current and future studies include evaluating tunable composite hydrogels consisting of a chitosan and common extracellular matrix proteins to more closely mimic components of the breast microenvironment. In addition, more aggressive breast cancer cells will be tested using this platform to identify effects of varied stiffness on metastatic markers.
