In this study, we confirmed that the accumulation of NPs displayed a significantly increased peak at 3h post-injury compared to control and 3d post-injury groups. Furthermore, we demonstrated the feasibility to deliver up to 40nm NPs at 3d post-injury. A clear dependence of NP delivery on the biphasic BBB23 disruption was observed. Overall, our results establish the utility and potential of NP-based theranostics for both acute (3h) and delayed delivery (3d) for focal TBI.
